     Located in the middle part of Hainan Island, the northern foot of Wuzhi Mountain. North latitude 1843 ' - 1925 ', east longitude 10931 ' - 11009 '. The whole area is 79.22 kilometers long from east to west, the north and south is 76.69 kilometers wide, area is 2639 sq. km.. Population is 195878. The Li nationality accounts for 43.4%, the Miao nationality accounts for 5.4%. Have jurisdiction over 5 townships , 8 garrison post. There are 566 natural villages, there are 4 county- run agricultural forest farms , 15 pieces of state-run agriculture , forest , tea , pasture within the border. The county government stays in the root town of the camp , 136 kilometers from Haikou in the north, 165 kilometers from Sanya in the south. Sea Yuzhong line traverse whole area, network of highways extend all the direction.  regular buses lead to all parts of the whole island every day.

The topographical: southwest of the whole county is high, the Northeast is low, the terrain slopes from southwest to the Northeast. The ground form  is composed of low mountain , hills , tableland , river , terrace ,etc.. there are 52 mountain peaks which are 1000 meters above sea level. 1867 meters elevation of mountain peak of Wuzhi Mountain of the southwest intersected with Tongshi, is the highest peak on the whole island.

Surrounded by hills, form daytime hot night cool mountain area climate characteristic. 220C average temperature of the whole year, 160C temperature on average of January, the definitely minimum temperature is 60C below zero; 260C temperature on average of July, absolute maximum temperature 380C. The total radiation of the sun is 4579 million joule(J)s / M2, annual average 1600--2000 hours of sunshine. The annual average relative humidity is 80%--85%. The annual average precipitation is 2200--2400 mm. The largest precipitation is 5525 mm in 1964 , the smallest precipitation was 1018 mm in 1969, Daily largest precipitation is 626 mm on July 20 1977. Annual average evaporation is 1824.1 mm. The quiet wind is 55%  is the top of the whole island, the annual average wind speed is 1.2 meters per second.

Resource: Resources are located in the mountain area, products resources of the forest are abundant, is one of the largest in reserves of forest of the whole province. There are 116233.333 hectares of area of woods now, wildwood is 66673.333 hectares among them, 49,560 hectares of artificial forest, the main precious timber has: Mother catch , bitter Chinese catalpa , octagonal,, blusher, jackfruit, green Nan, oil red, spend pear, purple and red, the slope is built etc.. Mineral deposit resources are gold , silver , copper , sulphur iron , aluminium , lime stone , fluorite , kaolin ,etc. mainly. The wild animal has mainly: Macaque , gibbon , deer , black bear , leopard , boa , wild boar , wild sheep ,etc.. The local products: Wuzhi Mountain tea , money tortoise , red rattan , white rattan , tapioca ,etc.
